Oskaloosa High School

Welcome to Oskaloosa High School

The staff and administration would like to welcome you to Oskaloosa High School, where our mission is to “Empower All Students for Success”.  Each student has abilities, but it takes teamwork from teachers, students, and parents to bring out those abilities.  Oskaloosa High School offers students excellent opportunities to develop their abilities through challenging academic programs, as well as through athletic and other extra-curricular activities.

Oskaloosa High School serves approximately 700 students and has 182 course offerings, including over 60 course offerings students may take and gain college credit.  Our students have access to both Indian Hills Community College as well as William Penn University courses.  We also offer Science, Technology ,Engineering, and Math (STEM) classes such at Project Lead the Way (PLTW), and VREP along with Audio and Visual Communications classes.

The 2016-17 school year marks our sixth year as a 1:1 School.  Each student is able to have a laptop computer to use during the school year.  Students access information to think critically, create, and collaborate while obtaining 21st Century skills.  Our teachers will integrate Project Based Learning with collaboration coming from Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s).

We encourage our students to get involved with extra curricular activities.  Oskaloosa High School has a award winning marching band, jazz band, and is one of the only schools of its size in the state to have an orchestra.  Our choral membership is also outstanding with students participating in many different performances.  In athletics we offer a host of sports with many teams and individuals finishing their seasons in state competition.  We are the first high school to have a Pheasants Forever club and have received national attention for some of its achievements.  Our Student Council has been recognized by the state for the work they have done in the community as well as the school.  Our robotics teams have placed high in state competitions are working toward placement at the nationals in the near future.

Oskaloosa High School enjoys the support of a wide variety of community groups. Parent support groups such as the Band Boosters, and the Athletic Boosters help to make our school the dynamic, student-centered institution it is.  Again, we welcome you to our school and we hope that you enjoy your time with us.
